Susan Johnson McCabe

Co-Director, Harvard X-Media Lab and Adjunct Faculty

Susan Johnson McCabe M.Ed. is an Educator, Entrepreneur, and Advocate for education innovation. As the Co-Director of the Harvard X-Media Lab she’s focused on expanding the cross-media methodology in new directions and developing in-person, online, and hybrid courses/workshops with support from the Library of Congress.

As Adjunct Lecturer in the Learning Design Innovation and Technology (LDIT) Program at Harvard University, Graduate School of Education, Susan brings deep experience advising startups, universities, and multinational companies about developing new products/programs, creating/implementing mar-comm strategies, and building high-performance teams/partnerships. She teaches product launch strategy and business theory/best practices to graduate students aspiring to be social impact entrepreneurs and/or change agents in education.

Susan founded StoryEdge, an education consultancy to create dynamic learning experiences that promote civic/social awareness, media literacy, and deeper learning utilizing stories, cross media methods, and artifacts of historic/cultural/social significance to help learners gain new perspectives, develop critical thinking skills, unmask misinformation and uncover hidden truths. Susan also consults with for-profit and non-profit startups on the strategic use of stories, media, and data to articulate vision/mission, define problems/solutions, support brand identity, differentiate products/programs, illustrate benefits/impact, deliver bottom-line results, and cultivate engaged communities.

Susan is a member of the SIE Society and passionate about the potential for entertainment in all its’ media forms to play a significant role in education across subjects/disciplines and learner levels. She is also working closely with the SIE leadership team to develop a new SIE certificate program.
