Rosy Ocampo

Executive Producer & Showrunner — Pioneer in Social-Impact Entertainment

Rosy Ocampo is one of the most influential executive producers and showrunners in Spanish-language television, with 40+ years of creating series that blend entertainment, innovation, and measurable social impact. Her leadership has helped redefine the telenovela as a vehicle for education, reflection, and cultural change.

Through a long-standing collaboration with Population Media Center (PMC), Rosy has developed a storytelling model that pairs emotionally resonant narratives with evidence-based social goals. Together, they have created groundbreaking series addressing gender equality, positive masculinities, prevention of gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and the empowerment of youth and women.

Her anthology franchise Vencer—including Vencer el Miedo, Vencer el Desamor, Vencer el Pasado, Vencer la Ausencia, and Vencer la Culpa—has become an international benchmark for purpose-driven melodrama. Each season integrates themes grounded in behavioral research and is evaluated through qualitative and quantitative impact studies.

In 2024, she published Showrunning for Social-Impact Entertainment, in collaboration with El Instituto (Inteligencia de Mercados) and PMC, establishing a new framework for data-informed storytelling in Latin American television. That same year, she produced Papás por Conveniencia, a top-rated prime-time series in Mexico, developed with PMC to raise awareness about teen-pregnancy prevention, gender equity, and healthy family relationships.

Rosy’s productions have aired in more than 70 countries and earned over 80 awards, including the Prix Jeunesse Iberoamericano. She has been named one of People en Español’s “25 Most Powerful Women” and one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Mexico” by CNN Expansión and Líderes. In 2025, she continues her partnership with PMC on Papás por Siempre, a series celebrating resilience and the strength of blended families.
