Writer, Director, Producer, Assistant Director
Storytelling is Nandi Bowe’s passion. After the devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she moved with her husband and three sons to Mumbai, India for three years where she wrote her memoir, Hollywood to Bollywood. She is currently developing a television series, executive produced together with Frank Spotnitz, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis and starring Tiffany Haddish, based on that adventure. Bowe wants to utilize her experiences of living abroad to tell global and universal stories.
Bowe’s use of humor in her storytelling reveals acute vulnerability in her characters, while giving the audience permission to relate to their pain with ease. “Adding levity to difficult challenges and experiences makes it easier to swallow our own fragility in the face of life’s obstacles. With my stories, I hope to widen the lens through which we view American culture, world culture, and disability. I want people to see their own humanity in my characters.”
Bowe worked as an Assistant Director on numerous projects including “Do The Right Thing”, “Daughters of The Dust”, “Sister Act 2”, “House Party “, “Hocus Pocus”, “Sneakers”, “Best Foot Forward” and many others. She was a Staff Writer on the “X-Files” spin-off, “The Lone Gunmen”. She wrote, directed, and produced, “Statistically Speaking”, starring Alfre Woodard and Garry Marshall.
Bowe is a member WGA and a DGA Disability Committee Co-Chair. She continues to take definitive steps toward realizing her lifelong goal of being an extraordinary storyteller who writes, directs, creates, and works on powerful stories that entertain, inspire, and uplift.
