
Writer, Producer & Director of “My Dead Friend Zoe”
Kyle Hausmann-Stokes is an award-winning director and writer based in Los Angeles.
Kyle enlisted in the US Army a month before 9/11, served 5 years as a paratrooper and received the Bronze Star in Iraq. He used the G.I. Bill to graduate from USC film, after which he spent a decade directing commercials around the world for brands like Google, IBM, US Air Force and the Dept of Veterans Affairs.
Kyle is the founder/owner of Blue Three Productions, a production company through which he’s written, produced and directed dozens of narrative, nonfiction, advertising and PSA campaigns about the military and veterans. In 2012, Kyle co-founded Veterans in Media & Entertainment, the largest organization for service members working in the film/television industry and foremost conduit between the veteran community and Hollywood.
Kyle’s feature film debut, the autobiographical dark comedy MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE (2025), stars Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales. The film won the 2024 SXSW Audience Award (also Woodstock Grand Jury and Mill Valley Audience Award) was released in theaters nationwide and is one of the highest rated films of the year (95% Rotten Tomatoes) by critics and audiences alike. The film was also conceived, executed and disseminated as an “impact film” by partnering, from the outset, with The Bob Woodruff Foundation, The Mission Continues and Everytown for Gun Safety and working with their leadership, communities and specific missions throughout in various capacities throughout.
