Researcher for ‘Up to Us”, LA Art & Global Health Center
Amanda Giuliano is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Social Research Methodology Division (SRM) at UCLA’s School of Education & Information Studies and Research Fellow at the Art & Global Health Center. Her research explores applied theatre as both an innovative methodology to study learning and a pedagogical tool for building knowledge and intimacy, particularly within sexual health education. In her work, she draws from sociocultural theory and narrative theory in addition to applied theatre practices such as Theatre of the Oppressed. Amanda is especially interested in using her approach to educational research to advocate for more progressive sex education strategies and policies within our current institutions.
